Junior Professorship (Assistant Professor, W1) in Southeast Asian Studies

We are looking for a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following fields: the languages, literatures, media, modern and contemporary history of insular Southeast Asia (mainly Indonesia and /or Malaysia).

We expect an outstanding doctoral thesis, methodologically sound expertise on modern insular Southeast Asia evidenced by relevant publications and teaching experience, very high proficiency in Indonesian / Malay, English, and ideally German as well as the willingness to engage in cooperative research and teaching activities including the Interdisciplinary Center of East Asian Studies (IZO) at Goethe University.

The initial appointment is for three years and can be renewed for another three years upon positive evaluation. The designated salary for the position is based on "W1" of the German university scale or equivalent. AUF - Appel à candidatures pour des bourses doctorales -Bureau Asie-P acifique

L'AUF vient de lancer son appel à candidatures pour des bourses doctorales. Cet appel peut être consulté en ligne sur le lien suivant :

Il faut noter plusieurs nouveautés cette année :

• Il n'y a qu'un seul appel pour des bourses doctorales (au lieu de 2 appels les années précédentes).
• La procédure de candidature est uniquement faite EN LIGNE, il n'y a plus d'envoi de dossiers papiers pour cette première phase de sélection.
• Le  montant des bourses a été modifié, les nouveaux boursiers recevront 300 euros par mois dans le pays d'origine et 900 euros par mois dans le pays d'accueil (si le pays d'accueil est un pays en voie de développement ou émergent, le boursier recevra 650 euros par mois). Par exemple un boursier Cambodgien qui étudierait 6 mois par an en Belgique et 4 mois par an au Cambodge, recevra 900 euros par mois pendant son séjour en Belgique et 300 euros par mois pendant son séjour au Cambodge.
• Les documents demandés ont été simplifiés. Il faudra principalement envoyer (en fichier attaché) un projet de thèse et des attestations faites par les co-directeurs de thèse.
• Enfin, de manière exceptionnelle, les étudiants originaires d'Asie-Pacifique, récemment diplômés d'une université membre de l'AUF en Asie-Pacifique et qui sont actuellement en master dans une autre région du monde, peuvent aussi candidater à cet appel d'offres, au titre de leur université d'origine en Asie-Pacifique. Par exemple un étudiant vietnamien qui a fait un diplôme de génie civil à l'École nationale de Génie Civil de Hanoï en 2006-2010 et qui est actuellement (2010-2011) en master 2 en France peut présenter sa candidature en indiquant l'École nationale de Génie civil comme université d'origine. Cette démarche demande toutefois que l'étudiant ait conservé des contacts avec son université d'origine et que cette université accepte de présenter ce dossier.

La date limite de candidature est le 28 février 2011 et les résultats de la sélection devraient pouvoir être annoncés début mai.

Peuvent se présenter tous les étudiants, chercheurs ou enseignants des établissements membres de l'AUF en Asie-Pacifique, âgés de moins de 46 ans au moment de la candidature.
L'objectif des bourses de l'AUF étant de renforcer les universités et la recherche au "Sud", les candidatures des enseignants et chercheurs déjà en poste sont fortement encouragées.
